At the end of 2005 the
development team of Mambo CMS left and founded
a new CMS system called Joomla! Nobody knows what happened but it was some internal disagreement. Therefore
Joomla! 1.0 was almost the same product as Mambo but repackage.
From version 1.0.0 to 1.0.14 the
Joomla! has steady evolved to being the
best in its class. This is evidenced by being the
winner of the CMS Awards 2006 and in
2007 came top in its class for the
quality of it’s code 2007, in which more that 70 different Content Management Systems where competing. Its success has also followed to
winning the Best Linux / Open Source Project.
The system still retained a
basic Mambo infrastructure and uses terms like ‘
Mambot’ to describe some of its extensions. These likenesses allow
migrating Mambo 4.5
to Joomla! 1.0.12
fairly easy. Thereafter both systems have greater number of differences making the task of migrating later version more difficult.
Rest assured with we have an
in-depth knowledge and
experience in migrating Mambo 4.5.x and below over to Joomla! 1.0.x, ensuring that templates and content look the same as they did in Mambo, but with the power and improved functionality that Joomla! has to offer.
However this is not the case with Joomla! 1.5 as
1.5 is more that just a revamp but
a new CMS system! Without a hesitation it uses the
latest CMS technology in offering a
superior application.
With migrating the Mambo versions over to Joomla! 1.5 the
migration becomes more problematic as the two infrastructures are very different.
In this instance the migration
may require a two-stepped operation by first migration Mambo to Joomla! 1.0.x and then migrating up to version 1.5.x
